Simple, but complex and all-encompassing, as is life itself – this is Serge Aimé Coulibaly’s new work. “C la vie” is a point of departure towards a new vitality, and an impulse to take matters into one’s own hands again and celebrate the joys of existence. This production for dancers, voice and percussion, wants to replace a passive existence with action: not to hope, but to have faith. Strength instead of power. Collectivity as the highest value. Coulibaly connects these ideas with rhythm, movement, and exuberance. He calls for a collective and joyful investigation of what it is that makes life worth living.

Serge Aimé Coulibaly ist Tänzer und Choreograf aus Burkina Faso. 2002 gründete er die Kompanie Faso Dance Théâtre und ist seitdem international tätig. Seine Arbeiten sind einem zeitgenössischen Tanz verpflichtet, der in Emotionen wurzelt, aber auch Träger von Reflexion und Hoffnung ist. Sein kraftvoller Ausdruck macht seine Arbeiten universell und findet international Anklang. Ein besonderes Anliegen ist ihm, mit seiner Arbeit insbesondere jungen Menschen eine positive Dynamik zu vermitteln. Seine Produktionen wurden an zahlreichen Spielorten in Europa und Afrika gezeigt und zu Festivals eingeladen, darunter u.a. Kalakuta Republik (2016), Nuit Blanche à Ouagadougou (2014), Fadjiri (2013), Khokuma 7° Sud (2011), Babemba (2008), Soli-tude d'un Homme Intègre (2007), A Benguer (2006), Minimini (2002).
Das 1989 gegründete Festival Tanz im August, präsentiert von HAU Hebbel am Ufer, bietet ein internationales Angebot an zeitgenössischen Tanzperformances, renommierten Kompanien, innovativen Choreograf*innen sowie ein Gespür für neue Ästhetiken und Formate aus aller Welt.
