Als Russland 2022 die Vollinvasion der Ukraine begann, löste dies in der gesamten Region komplexe geopolitische Spannungen aus, die auch die Kunstwelt erfassten. Diesen heiklen Zustand loten die beiden Künstler*
innen Agnietė Lisičkinaitė und Igor Shugaleev anhand der angespannten Beziehung ihrer Heimatländer Litauen und Belarus aus. Mit minimalistischen Kostümen, Gesten und Requisiten sowie kurzen Text- und Videosequenzen wagen sie einen beinahe unmöglichen Dialog. Frei von dem Anspruch, politische Lösungen anzubieten, regt „CLAP & SLAP” zum Nachdenken über Verantwortung und Schuld, Nationalismus und Patriotismus, Selbstverteidigung und Aggression an.

The independent Lithuanian contemporary dance ensemble BE COMPANY was founded by Agnietė Lisičkinaitė and Greta Grinevičiūtė. BE COMPANY produces and represents emerging and established artists and promotes interdisciplinary and socially engaged artistic practices. The dancers Agnietė Lisičkinaitė (Lithuania) and Igor Shugaleev (Belarus/Poland) are internationally renowned for their political work, in which they explore protest culture, the impact of political regimes and personal interpretations of freedom. At the heart of their creative practice lies the physically exhausted body, symbolising those oppressed by various systems.
