For the finale of the Heroines of Sound Festival at Radialsystem, the Berlin-based brass ensemble Apparat will perform a re-imagined work by US-American composer Sarah Hennies.

Similar to the musicians of Apparat, the sound artists of the subsequent solo performances work with an expanded spectrum of sonic qualities. In “The Ombré of Touches”, composer Viola Yip explores the relational dynamics between material, (machine) body, and spatiality with a self-built, inflatable set of instruments. The performer Camilla M. Fehér appears as a near-mythical figure in her sonic choreography “M – The resonating body”, which plays with the reciprocal relationships between visible sound and audible movement. With a humorous attitude, Augustė Vickunaitė approaches the interplay of tape samples and interference extracted from inside her analogue lo-fi electronics.

In the concluding live concert, Darla Quintana transports us to the suspenseful spheres of sound between humanity and the cosmos: a guest in Berlin for the first time, the Chilean sound artist weaves complex, rhythmic patterns from synthesisers, samples and sound recordings taken at the ALMA space observation station in the Atacama Desert.

Biographien
