“The New Genius Experience of The Great Atomic Bombreflector“ is a ritual science fiction experiment by the ORTA project. This planetary work will come to Berlin for the first time on the 26th October, following premieres in New York and Seoul.
The immersive performance is defined as part of the “New Genius Theatre” genre developed by ORTA, which builds upon the ideas of Kazakh visionary Sergey Kalmykov. An immersive atmosphere unfolds, based upon Kalmykov’s transcendental texts, folk songs, and witness statements from survivors of atomic tests in Kazakhstan, lead by performer Alexandra Morozova. As active participants in the performance, the audience passes through a multilevel ritual, confronting the staggering inhumanity of atomic power that haunted Kazakhstan in the form of atomic bomb tests for 40 years. With incisive lighting, fragile music, and 17,000 aluminium shells, ORTA manages to build a revolutionary creation that transforms the destructive energy of atomic violence into the genius powers of global innovation: the great atomic bomb reflector.

Die experimentellen Projekte des Duo ORTA – Schauspielerin und Künstlerin Alexandra Morozova und Regisseur und Komponist Rustem Begenov aus Almaty, Kasachstan – verstehen sich als „The New Genius Theatre“ und verbinden Theater, zeitgenössische Kunst, Musik, Film, Technologie und Philosophie mit traditionellem Handwerken, Bräuchen und rituellen Praktiken, um die geheimnisvolle und allumfassende „Universelle Komposition“ zu erforschen, die der sichtbaren Welt zugrunde liegt. Das „New Genius Theatre“ basiert auf den Ideen des Denkers Sergey Kalmykov (1891–1967), der als erster kasachischer Genius von Erde, Raum und Umgebung galt. Seit seiner Gründung im Jahr 2015 wurden ORTAs Performances, Installationen, Ausstellungen, Videoarbeiten, Filme und Bücher auf Festivals und in Institutionen wie dem New European Theatre NET (Moskau), La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club (New York), Message 2 Man (St. Petersburg) und dem Stanislawski-Elektrotheater (Moskau) gezeigt. 2022 kuratierten ORTA den historischen kasachischen Pavillon auf der Biennale di Venezia.
