Kinder- und Jugendtanzcompany Sasha Waltz & Guests

On 30 June and 1 July 2025, around 100 young dancers take the stage to present the results of their work over the past year as part of the Sasha Waltz & Guests children’s and youth dance company. This year’s annual showcase once again includes all four groups of the children’s and youth dance company, and, for the second year in a row, a performance by Children's Dance Group 1, which consist of the youngest children, ages 6 to 9. Entitled “Treeeees”, the piece is accompanied by live piano music. The young dancers of Children's Dance Group 2 (ages 9 to 11) dialogue with live music in “Welleneffekt” (“Wave Effect”) and discover their playful connection to percussion.
Group 3 (ages 11 to 14) explore questions of identity, belonging, boundaries, and community in “Constantly becoming.” The showcase concludes with “NEXUS”, a performance by the teenagers and young adults of Group 4 (ages 14 and up), which combines live percussion and electronic beats to link questions around our responsibility in the world with the transformative potential of collective creativity.

Die Kinder- und Jugendtanzcompany von Sasha Waltz & Guests
Ein spielerischer Zugang zu Bewegung und Tanz ist Basis der Arbeit der jährlich wachsenden Kinder- und Jugendtanzcompany von Sasha Waltz & Guests im Radialsystem, die bereits seit mehr als 18 Jahren besteht. 2006 verstetigte Sasha Waltz die Arbeit mit jungen Tanzenden, die sie bereits im Jahr 2004 mit einem Projekt in Kooperation mit „TanzZeit – Tanz in Schulen“ begonnen und im Anschluss eigenständig fortgeführt hatte. Seither wird die Arbeit der Kinder- und Jugendtanzcompany von Sasha Waltz & Guests im Radialsystem kontinuierlich weiterentwickelt und ausgebaut. Heute werden die Nachwuchstänzer*innen in vier nach Alter gestaffelten Gruppen individuell gefördert. Ausgehend von spielerischen und experimentellen Ansätzen können die Kinder und Jugendlichen ihre Bewegung schulen und ihre Begabung weiter ausprägen.
