Sarah Davachi’s hypnotic longform organ and synthesizer compositions are imbued with gateway potential, opening aural dimensions where overtones, resonance, and microscopic roughnesses are meticulously revealed. At CTM she will unveil "Double Reeds", an A/V solo organ performance with a film by Los Angeles filmmaker Dicky Bahto.
Premiering the results of her CTM × Somerset House × Goethe-Institut commission, Ellen Arkbro performs alongside The London Crumhorn Consort in a new work for reed organ and crumhorns. The piece explores the trembling nature of fully in-tune sound – the ensemble listening and sounding as a single body – juxtaposed with the crumhorn’s inherently unruly breath-bound nature which resists perfect steadiness. The music’s core is found in that tension between the unreachable ideal of a pure tone and the effort required to approach it.

Biographies
Sarah Davachis Werk entfaltet sich als kontinuierliche Erforschung von Klangfarbe, Dauer und architektonischer Resonanz. Ihre Praxis umfasst Kammermusik, Soloaufnahmen und groß angelegte langförmige Kompositionen. Ihre Werke wurden international in großen Konzertsälen, Museen und Veranstaltungsorten präsentiert, mit Ensembleprojekten, die von führenden Orchester- und Kammermusikgruppen in Auftrag gegeben und aufgeführt wurden. Im Jahr 2020 gründete sie Late Music, ein Partnerlabel von Warp Records.
Ellen Arkbros Praxis konzentriert sich auf aktives Zuhören und verwandelt das Hören in einen partizipativen Akt, bei dem die Zuhörerenden eingeladen sind, Klang als physischen und zeitlichen Zustand zu erleben. Arkbros Werke wurden unter anderem bei Subtext Recordings, Portraits GRM und Blank Forms Editions veröffentlicht. Ihre Kompositionen und Performances wurden weltweit in Konzertsälen, Kirchen, Museen und im Rahmen experimenteller Musikveranstaltungen präsentiert.
