Performances, Installations, Music, Sound, and Design: The international and transdisciplinary mentorship program "Forecast" is launching its tenth edition with the "Forecast Forum." From July 18–20 2025 creative minds from around the world will present their visionary projects and ideas at Radialsystem through performances and showcases.
From over 1,000 applications worldwide, the six renowned mentors of the 2025/26 Forecast edition have each invited three nominees to present their artistic proposals. During three action-packed days, boundaries between disciplines and genres will be questioned, challenged, and transcended through performances and innovative artistic strategies in dialogue between mentors and the 18 nominees. At the end of the forum, each mentor will select one project to support until spring. These six projects will be showcased at the "Forecast Festival" in March 2026 at Radialsystem.
This year’s team of mentors includes theater maker and performer Lulu Obermayer, musician Sote, artist and filmmaker Ruth Patir, vocalist and composer Elaine Mitchener, video and installation artist James Richards, and designer and artist Hussein Chalayan.
Guided Tour in Sign Language with Freo Majer, July 19, 5:00 – 6:00 PM
As part of a free guided tour in sign language, Freo Majer, artistic director of Forecast, will offer fascinating insights into the international mentoring program Forecast. He will guide visitors through the installations, photographs, and video works of the current nominees Ebrahim Alipoor, Siri Black, and TaeHwan Jeon.The tour will be complemented by Lulu Obermayer – performer and Forecast mentor – who will share her experiences as a former nominee in Forecast Edition 5 and her work as a mentor in Forecast 10. Participation is free of charge, registration via the ticketing page is required.

Forecast is a platform that supports and promotes groundbreaking creative practices and bold artistic practitioners. As an international mentorship program and transdisciplinary network for knowledge transfer, Forecast offers artists and creative thinkers from around the world the opportunity to realize their own projects alongside renowned mentors. Forecast provides insights into creative production processes across disciplines and genres, and creates space for questions that are essential for a new generation of influential minds.

Der zyprische Designer und Künstler Hussein Chalayan fordert in seinem Werk das Zusammenspiel von Mode und Kunst immer wieder neu heraus. Chalayan bekam schon früh Aufmerksamkeit, als die renommierte britische Boutique Browns 1993 seine Abschlusskollektion kaufte. Im folgenden Jahr gründete er sein eigenes Label und wurde 1999 und 2000 zum britischen Designer des Jahres gekürt.
Elaine Mitchener ist eine britisch-afro-karibische Vokalistin, Bewegungskünstlerin und Komponistin, die zwischen experimenteller und zeitgenössischer Neuer Musik, freier Improvisation und bildender Kunst arbeitet. Derzeit ist sie Associate Artist in der Wigmore Hall, Artist Associate beim Ensemble Klang, Fellow der Needcompany, Belgien und war 2022 DAAD Artist-in-Berlin Fellow. Im Februar 2022 wurde sie mit einem MBE für Verdienste um die Musik ausgezeichnet.
Lulu Obermayers Arbeit umfasst die Bereiche Oper, Theater, Performancekunst, Dramaturgie und Choreografie. Sie verwebt Fakten mit Anekdoten und bringt reale wie fiktive Frauenstimmen auf die Bühne, um Fragen nach Handlungsfähigkeit und Repräsentation zu untersuchen. In kritischer Auseinandersetzung mit dem europäischen Kulturkanon deckt sie das Potenzial weiblicher Figuren auf und erzählt etablierte Narrative neu. Obermayer ist Alumna des Forecast Mentorship-Programms und kehrt dieses Jahr als Mentorin zurück.
Ruth Patir ist Künstlerin und Filmemacherin im Bereich der neuen Medien. In ihrer oft biografischen Arbeit verbindet sie dokumentarische Erzählungen mit hochentwickelten computergenerierten Bildern und denkt über gesellschaftliche Themen wie Geschlechterpolitik, Technologie und versteckte Machtmechanismen nach. Zu ihren Einzelausstellungen zählen u.a. CCA Tel Aviv-Yafo (2022) und der israelische Pavillon auf der 60. Biennale in Venedig (2024).
Die Arbeit des Künstlers James Richards umfasst die Bereiche Film, Video und Installation. Seine Bewegtbildarbeiten setzen sich aus einer Vielzahl von Quellen zusammen, die von Heimvideos bis hin zu Soundtracks reichen. Richards erforscht die Überschneidung von Technologie und Identität, um Themen wie Besessenheit und Begehren zu erforschen. Zu Richards' jüngsten Einzelausstellungen gehören „Our Friends in the Audience“ (2024) und „Workers in Song“ (2024). 2024 wurde er mit dem Preis der Nationalgalerie ausgezeichnet.
Ata Ebtekar, besser bekannt als Sote, ist ein iranisch-amerikanischer Komponist und Klangkünstler für elektronische Musik. Seine Liebe zu Klängen und Texturen zeigt sich in den verschiedenen Formen seiner Arbeit wie Hardcore-Clubsounds, Kollaborationen zwischen (traditioneller) akustischer und elektronischer Instrumentierung und experimenteller Solo-Elektronik.
