Biography Trio Catch

Boglárka Pecze (clarinet), Eva Boesch (violoncello) and Sun-Young Nam (piano) met as scholarship holders at the International Ensemble Modern Academy in Frankfurt and then founded the Trio Catch - named after the work "Catch" op. 4 by Thomas Adès, In addition to classical music, the interpretation of contemporary music is a focus of their collaboration. The Hamburg-based trio has worked with numerous composers, including Mark Andre, Georges Aperghis, Beat Furrer and Helmut Lachenmann. A lively concert schedule has taken the Trio Catch all over Europe and to festivals such as Ultrasonic Berlin, Musica Strasbourg and the Witten Days for New Chamber Music. The trio is also active in music education: They held a teaching position at the Musikhochschule Hamburg and, as an ensemble in residence, gave workshops for the students of the composition classes. Since 2016 the trio has been organizing its own series “Ohrknacker”, in which works specially composed for the Trio Catch are presented in lecture concerts.

Opening ears to new sounds: In the concerts of the Trio Catch's "Ohrknacker" series, the focus is on one work of contemporary music, which is played twice and in between is examined more closely in exchange with the audience - not as a musicological analysis, but as a personal conversation about the Music. After a break caused by the pandemic, the Earcracker series is now continuing online as a streaming format.
