The festival opens with the installation “Airchoir No. 2: Dirges for (26) Coded Organ Voices” by Anouk Kellner, inviting visitors to explore a polyphonic, algorithmically organised body of sound. Within this space, coded organ voices combine to form a sonic architecture that oscillates between collective memory and mechanical articulation.
In the evening, internationally renowned electronic musician Kyoka presents the premiere of “Motion Scapes”, in which she transposes genetic data from the environment into sound processes, using a newly developed cybernetic apparatus.
This is followed by a programme from the young Ensemble Spółdzielnia Muzyczna from Krakow, perfectly reflecting the experimental character of its musicians: The premiere of Yoko Konishi’s “Motus Umbra” puts the focus on dynamic contrasts, oscillating between brutal sound effects and wafer-thin textures. Barbara Zach explores the reciprocal relationship between sound and image, while Żaneta Rydzewska juxtaposes organic and artificial sound worlds. Eloain Lovis Hübner and Nina Fukuoka explore aural and rhythmic patterns – these appear in digitally fragmented or distorted forms honouring glitch aesthetics, and placing traditional Polka music in a contemporary context in a way that is both ironic and multilayered.
The day ends with a multimedia set by Miako Klein and Jia Lim, whose recent release “Nova Atlantis” spans historical resonant spaces: Barock stylistics, advanced technology, and virtuoso improvisation combine in a lively, multilayered and interwoven dialogue, in which layers of time overlap and sound memory is experienced as present-day practice.
