Hillary Clinton's voice has been described as “[sticking] in your ear like an ice pick”, whilst Michelle Obama was criticised both for “speaking like a white girl”, as well as for being too loud, too angry, or even emasculating. Women who make their voices heard face a looming threat, and a quick glance at the comments posted on social media would suffice as evidence. A choreographic concert on the power and multifaceted nature of female voices underpins the performance "Her Noise" by the Company Christoph Winkler – whose choreographic work earned the German Dance Award in 2022 – exploring the diverse aspects of female voices and their emancipation.
What is more, artists Lucrecia Dalt, Stine Janvin, Colin Self and Lena Wicke-Aengenheyster (MONSTERFRAU) have been invited to work together with the dancers on musical material that bears a special connection to the female voice. Through this process of shared authorship, there emerges a musical-performative reflection on the female voice.
