The art of responding – as part of "Making Dances – Dancing Replies," the renowned Dance On Ensemble invites contemporary artists to offer a rejoinder in their own language to historical masterpieces of modern and postmodern dance. Tim Etchells, Mathilde Monnier, and Ginevra Panzetti and Enrico Ticconi respond to works by Martha Graham, Merce Cunningham, and Lucinda Childs. In five pieces shown over two evenings, the artists reflect on iconic pieces that radically broke the rules of their time, allowing for the discovery, in different ways, of connections between dance heritage and contemporary artistic creation, as well as between artists of different generations and traditions. The Dance On Ensemble only accepts dancers over the age of 40; it has earned itself an outstanding reputation in a very short period and is welcomed as a guest at radialsystem for the first time.
