Knocked down in the ring, a woman rises from the ground and continues to fight: not against an opponent who has already won, but with herself. The inner struggle of the defeated boxer is accompanied by songs from the 16th and the first half of the 20th century. The touching music gives an idea of the different situations and how timeless grief is perceived, lived through and processed.

A musical-physical staging of grief in five phases by director Tom Wilmersdörffer - with piano improvisations and boxing match. Denial, anger, negotiation, depression and acceptance of the situation: In the "Box Salon" we experience the phases of the mourning process along the songs of John Dowland and Kurt Weill - musically staged by soprano Andromahi Raptis and pianist Jonathan Ware, visually embodied by boxers* of the Munich Boxwerk. On the surface, the composers' works seem to tell different stories, but behind the scenes, they fit into the universal phases of coping with grief.

Now in its fifth year, the ID Festival reflects on the complex relationships between Israelis and Germans living in Germany and the questions they pose to one another. Under the artistic

direction of Ohad Ben-Ari, this anniversary edition examines the absurdities of our daily lives.
