What's That Noise?
Music & Storytelling by Sandhya Daemgen
“What's That Noise?” is a series that focuses on the music and stories of selected female* artists of the past, recognizing and cherishing those who have pushed musical and societal boundaries. The series has been taking place at various venues and festivals for art, music and performance since 2014. In January and April 2020, two very successful evenings were realized at radialsystem as part of the series “New Empathies” and "New Empathies - Far from a distance".
We are getting closer!
Over four long summer weekends, we will once again open radialsystem to the public and cordially invite you to the concerts, installations, and performances by and with the Solistenensemble Kaleidoskop, Hanno Leichtmann, Peter Cusack, Sandhya Daemgen, Deva Schubert, Guerilla Architects and Alicia Agustín, Sasha Waltz & Guests, Tilman O'Donnell and Mikkel Ploug, Juan Dominguez and Wojtek Blecharz.
The different rooms of the building, the Spree Terrace, and the covered Deck are all to be discovered in a different way than before. Over the past few weeks, we have come to learn how important and yet fragile the shared experience of live performances is. In order to ensure that everyone feels safe and at ease at our relaunch, we want to allow for plenty of space and time for these encounters to unfold onsite. Therefore, together with the participating artists and ensembles, we have developed artistic formats that foster unusual aesthetic experiences and through which radialsystem can also be encountered in a new way.
On August 29th, Sandhya Daemgen and Florence Freitag invite you to a Listening Workshop outdoors in the Tempelhof area, in which they will explore with you the complexities of Listening. We will do walking and listening tasks, as well as focus on the concept of Deep Listening from Pauline Oliveros. We will also share our experiences and our thoughts on where Listening can take us individually, collectively, artistically and politically. When was the last time you just listened?
Listening is attention, connection, empathy, activism, feminism, openness, intimacy, a necessary pause, space, deep…
