New Empathies: Sound-fields

Soundinstallationen by Wojtek Blecharz

With "Sound-fields," composer Wojtek Blecharz invites the audience to a “sound stroll” through the radialsystem, as part of the series "New Empathies." The visitors move freely through the house and thus explore nine different works by the composer, including performative installations, multi-channel works, sound treatments for a limited number of viewers, or sound sculptures. Sound-fields create their own tonal energy and are intended to be listened to or to provide healing: the sound can be felt and touched. "Sound-fields" redefines traditional concert structures and establishes a holistic approach to the experience of music.

The installation runs every day from 4 - 6.30 pm and takes one hour.
In a guided group of max. 7 persons you will walk along the stations of the sound installation through the radialsystem. Every 10 minutes a new sound walk begins, last start is at 5 pm. You can choose your desired time-slot when purchasing your ticket.

As the sound walk is designed for an audience in motion, it is necessary to wear a mouth-and-nose cover.

New Empathies

As society continues to drift further apart, the
concept of empathy is currently experiencing a renaissance. The ability to empathize is regarded as the central tool with which to fight the rage exerted against the supposed Other, yet it is also seen as the danger inherent in sentimental depoliticization. In June 2019, radialsystem launched “New Empathies”, a series of programmes spanning two years, consisting of concerts, installations, choreographies, workshops, and discussions.

We are getting closer!

Over four long summer weekends, we will once again open radialsystem to the public and cordially invite you to the concerts, installations, and performances by and with the Solistenensemble Kaleidoskop, Hanno Leichtmann, Peter Cusack, Sandhya Daemgen, Deva Schubert, Guerilla Architects and Alicia Agustín, Sasha Waltz & Guests, Tilman O'Donnell and Mikkel Ploug, Juan Dominguez and Wojtek Blecharz.
The different rooms of the building, the Spree Terrace, and the covered Deck are all to be discovered in a different way than before. Over the past few weeks, we have come to learn how important and yet fragile the shared experience of live performances is. In order to ensure that everyone feels safe and at ease at our relaunch, we want to allow for plenty of space and time for these encounters to unfold onsite. Therefore, together with the participating artists and ensembles, we have developed artistic formats that foster unusual aesthetic experiences and through which radialsystem can also be encountered in a new way.
