Avant-garde folklore? Spontaneous contemplation? Minimalist prog rock? “minimal utopia orkestra” is a musical experiment that has emerged from the project “Heimatlieder aus Deutschland” (“Songs of Homeland from Germany”). At radialsystem, the 16-person ensemble performs a fragmented mythology with handmade instruments from four continents, bursting into song, whether it be Cuban or Vietnamese, Serbian or Moroccan. These musical effusions are not random, but rather contemporary – as contradictory as the times in which we live.
