Profile
The House

The house regularly offers cultural activities for all ages as well as child care during its afternoon events. Special emphasis is also placed on education programmes for children and teenagers. Currently, the Kindertanzcompany Berlin (children dance company), directed by Livia Patrizi, Hanna Hegenscheidt and Sasha Waltz, meets weekly for training. A baroque youth orchestra will be founded and the house is currently discussing ways to extend its activities for children and families, with the goal of creating innovative programmes which engage and stimulate the creativity of children.
Under the arts councils programme (Rat für die Künste Berlin) for cultural education (Kulturelle Bildung), the house has taken up a patronage for the Evangelische Schule Berlin-Mitte (Evangelical School Berlin-Mitte).

Family Days at RADIALSYSTEM V
In the framework of "Radiale Familientage" (radial family days), the entire house regularly opens its doors to the public. Allowing children as well as parents to playfully engage in a wide array of artistic themes, the goal of RADIALSYSTEM V is to establish a base for families to experience quality cultural activities appropriate for children.

The summer family day during the centre's opening weekend was a huge success: on September 10th RADIALSYSTEM V was opened with concerts by Vocalconsort Berlin, expeditions for small pirates on the Spree, a steam-engine installation by Frank Barnes and spectacular flights across the river.

The Christmas season radial family day in December 2006 included a snow swing installation by Brad Hwang, concerts by the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, a music workshop held by Robyn Schulkowsky and a motion training workshop by Sasha Waltz. There was also an ''Arabian nights costume makeover'' as well as an outdoor winter buffet on the sun deck, offering small and grown-up guests plenty of things to experience.

For the Easter Monday family day, on the 9th of April 2007, guests included Elbipolis Barockorchester Hamburg as well as Vocalconsort Berlin. Friedrich Liechtenstein read the story ''Der kleine Mann im Bauch'' and on the ship ''Oscar'' children and parents could take part in an expedition on the Spree with Captain Nothnagel, while Brad Hwang built Berlin's largest bowling alley in the main hall.

Water and Sustainability" was the main topic of the radial family day on the 5th of April 2008. An artistic programme as well as different games invited young and old to participate inside and outside the house and to discover water as a natural resource. Furthermore, Link Trinkwasser.e.V. Trinkwasserwald e.V. and Link Bionade.de BIONADE presented their project "Creating resources – Planting drinking water": Transfering 130 hectares of coniferous forest into deciduous forest in order to considerably increase the amount of groundwater in this area.

Werk & Werkzeug - 'Music and Instruments'
With „Werk & Werkzeug“, RADIALSYSTEM V has established a musical series aimed at older children and adults alike. At the end of their rehearsal phase, artists and ensembles present the fruits of their labour while a moderator interviews the musicians about the music, their instruments, and the composers. The audience is invited to take part in the dialogue and pose questions to the artists after the show.

Child Care
On the weekends there are regular afternoon shows, welcoming especially children. For these productions tickets are offered at a reduced price for children. Upon request, there is also the option of child care for parents with younger children. For 5 € (the price including a free drink), parents can leave children between the age of three and eight years with pedagogically trained staff. Requests for child care should be made in advance at kinder@radialsystem.de.

Kids are especially welcome to the events marked with a kinder willkommen.
