Management/ Artistic direction
Jochen Sandig was born in Esslingen, Germany,
in 1968. In 1990 he moved to Berlin to study psychology
and philosophy where he has since been active as an urban
pioneer and cultural entrepreneur. His passions are the
city as public space, and the arts. Ever willing to take
risks, he has enriched Berlin by founding several cultural
institutions: Following the founding of the Tacheles Art
Centre in 1990, he remained the director of the Tacheles
Foundation e.V. until 1994. In 1993, together with Sasha
Waltz, he founded the dance company 
Sasha
Waltz & Guests. He went on to co-found the
Sophiensaele
in 1996, an independent venue for dance and theatre productions
in Berlin-Mitte, which he directed until 1999. From 2000
to 2004 Jochen Sandig was a member of the artistic direction
as well as a dramatist at the Schaubühne am Lehniner
Platz. Since 2004 he has been the director of the independent
Sasha Waltz & Guests GmbH.
Jochen Sandig is a member of the Lenkungskreis Kulturwirtschaft
(Steering Committee for Cultural Policy) in the Berlin Senate
and a member of the Council for the Arts and of the Forum
Zukunft Kultur. In January 2010 he was awarded the most
important cultural distinction in France and was appointed
Chevalier dans l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.
Folkert Uhde
was born in Wilhelmshaven, Germany, in 1965. After
training as a radio and television engineer, he studied
musicology and communications at the TU in Berlin. At the
same time, he took instruction as a baroque violinist at
the Akademie für Alte Musik in Bremen. He worked as
a freelance musician until 1995, when he founded Folkert
Uhde Konzert & ProjektManagement. Since 1997 he has
been a co-proprietor of
Uhde &
Harckensee MusikManagement. From 1997 to 2008 Folkert
Uhde was the manager and dramatist of the Akademie für
Alte Musik Berlin. He has initiated and created programmes
for numerous festivals including
"Zeitfenster"
the Biennale of Early Music in collaboration with the
Konzerthaus Berlin. Since 2013 he is the artistic director of "Internationale Orgelwoche Nürnberg - Musica Sacra".
In addition to developing innovative concert and music theatre
formats for RADIALSYSTEM V, the focus of his work is on
television and film productions, which thus far include
broadcasts on ZDFkultur, 3sat, ARTE and harmonia mundi.
In 2009 he was named Culture Manager of the Year for his
"successful work, his engagement, and his innovative
ideas and forms of cultural communication."
Together, Jochen Sandig and Folkert Uhde founded RADIALSYSTEM
V in 2005 as a privately-funded venture. Since it was opened
in 2006, they have worked as joint managing directors as
well as sharing duties as artistic directors of the venue.
