Café bar and Spree Terrace
Catering is an integral part of RADIALSYSTEM V. The Café
bar in the foyer opens daily from 10 am onwards and in fine
weather, our riverside Spree Terrace is an inviting place
to enjoy drinks and culinary delights in the open air. Situated
directly beside the River Spree, with spectacular views
from the Alexanderplatz to the Oberbaum Bridge and probably
the most beautiful sunset view in Berlin, it is the perfect
spot to end your day – including W-LAN and its own
landing stage complete with deck chairs. But we don't just
open the terrace and café bar to evening guests:
we serve a small selection of freshly-prepared seasonal
and regional dishes throughout the day. The culinary range
on offer goes from weekday lunches from 1 pm and diverse
cakes served onwards to classic meat and vegetarian barbeque
specialities at evening events. The Spree Terrace: The ideal
place to enjoy a relaxed sundowner or a glass of fine wine
with friends by the River Spree.
For larger groups it is possible to book lunches or evening
meals in advance – an attractive option for meetings,
after-work gatherings, or intimate celebrations.
Cuisine at RADIALSYSTEM V
Johannes Emken, head chef at RADIALSYSTEM V, invites our
guests to partake of freshly-prepared seasonal dishes: his
cuisine is prepared using fresh products, mostly from the
local region, which he and his team refine and transform
using avant-garde cooking methods. Traditional preparation
techniques are combined with international influences and
creative elements. The spectrum of dishes on offer is very
broad: From daily lunches for staff, artists and visiting
guests, to conference catering and sumptuous receptions
- from finger food to take-out lunch boxes, from passionately-prepared
buffets to elegant evening dinners.
Our Head Chef Johannes Emken
Johannes Emken considers himself a "multiregionalist":
He grew up in Oldenburg, the outskirts of Cologne as well
as in Bremen and the local region, before moving to Berlin
in 2000 after finishing his apprenticeship as a chef at
the Jugendstil Bahnhof in Worpswede. Once in the capital,
he gained experience in several popular establishments on
the culinary scene such as the "Abendmahl" while
also studying Cultural Sciences at the HU in Berlin. During
that time he discovered his growing interest in food culture
and notions of its presentation, as well as its place in
a social and cultural-historical context and he began to
incorporate these interests in his work as a chef. At the
same time, he was influenced by ideas about the sustainability
of food production and its relation to regional products.
His cuisine is created with a commitment to freshness and
ethical food production – be it in his role as head
chef at RADIALSYSTEM V or in his own catering company "Organiced
Kitchen".
Family Brunch
Are you looking for a pleasant way to spend Sunday with
your family? Why not enjoy an entertaining Sunday morning
at RADIALSYSTEM V, with a delicious buffet, live music,
a handicrafts corner, guided tours and the "Radial
Adventure Course" for children, exploring the building
from the loft down to the cellar! In summer, good weather
permitting, the Family Brunch is held on the Spree Terrace.
Catering at RADIALSYSTEM V
As part of our room hire service we offer a catering service
for individual events - be it coffee breaks or lunch buffets.
For large-scale events we will be happy to recommend our
preferred catering partners. The RADIALSYSTEM V is not tied
exclusively to any one catering service.
